St. Louis continues to have some of the highest pedestrian fatality rates in the county.

It is clear that the City of St. Louis needs a comprehensive approach to addressing traffic violence to create a St. Louis that works for everyone. Such an approach must include:

  • Better enforcement of our laws and the creation of an unarmed traffic control division that is housed under the streets department
  • Infrastructure improvements that prioritize the safety needs of residents and are part of a city-wide plan for streets
  • Investments in quality public transit to reduce reliance on vehicles
